Ron – great list… I recently went through a similar exercise… trying to come up with 10 words to describe the competencies that IT leaders need for the 21st Century (although they pertain to all leaders). I've been blogging about my musings at TurningTechInvisible.com.
Here is the list of leadership competencies to add to yours:
1. Competence (Demonstrates genuine authentic leadership)
2. Communication (Written, Spoken, Listening, Non-Verbal)
3. Collaboration (Plays well with others)
4. Corporate Contributor (Works for the whole organization, not just their own department, or self)
5. Conceptualization (Can see the potential in what doesn't yet exist)
6. Connector (Can bridge ideas, thoughts, people into a collectively generated solution)
7. Community Builder (Gets out and builds relationships. Active, not passive)
8. Current (Up to speed and literate about the issues that matter)
9. Creativity (Not bound by the boundaries of current knowledge or experience)
10. Copious, Continuous, Infectious Passion
In going through your list, I see that I will be expanding on my musings.
Listening.
