Saturday’s Dream Stretch: Person To Meet

By February 13, 2010Encouragement

Last Saturday I started encouraging dream Saturdays. You can read the first post HERE.

As I shared before, I believe that dreaming is a healthy exercise. I think God encourages big dreams. I even encouraged couples to dream together in Monday’s marriage post, which you can read HERE.

I believe dreams help us heal from negative emotions, stretch our imagination, and encourage us in the midst of difficult times.

So, here’s the way this works again. I will throw out a dream category and you share your dream with a comment. It can be a word, a sentence or a paragraph or more. (I know some of you read these from Facebook and it’s easier to share the comment there, but I hope you’ll take the time to share them on the blog, so those that don’t read via Facebook can read them also.)

This weeks dream stretcher:
If you could meet anyone living today, who would you want to meet and why?

Come on…I know you have some good answers…please share…

(Keep in mind, this is a dream, so stretch your mind….in dream world there is no limits of finances, time, or physical restraints.)

Share your answer now then check back to see where others are dreaming of visiting.  (I gave you my answer…or at least one of them with the picture in this post. Who can name my pick? I want to meet him, because he’s done a great job of bridging culture and truth and I honestly feel he could mentor me. You can read my post about mentoring HERE and the need for it HERE. )

I would have to say Amelia Earhart. I have always been very grounded in my thinking; very practical; a planner. But she had such a zest and zeal for adventure, I'm sure time spent with her would've stretched my imagination in incredible ways!

WELL I GUESS THAT SOUNDS LIKE I HAVE NEVER MET HIM…. WHICH I HAVE…. BUT IM THINKING IN THE ETERNAL SENSE I CAN'T WAIT TILL THAT DAY!!!!!!!!!!! I CAN ONLY IMAGINE……………

Ron, Rick recently did a Pastor’s conference (radicalis) and he was available to every pastor that attended. You may want to check out his radicalis tour or next year event. Radicalis.com

One of mine is Pastor Boy Coy, Calvary Chapel’s Fort Lauderdale lead pastor. He is a well grounded, constant pastor with great impact in people’s life. Lots to learn from him.

  • Pastor/church planter, Rick Warren. I wanna meet President & Mrs. Barack Obama because of their great vision for this country. I believe they truly care about people, and that they want to make life better for the masses.

Thanks for commenting here. I have posted on this blog before how I admire the President and First Lady for their family life. Hope you get to meet them.

I am going to say Billy Graham because I was watching one of his crusades on tv when I really understood (at the age of 13) what Christ has done for me. Then, when I was at the Write to Publish conference in Wheaton last June, I visited the Billy Graham Museum there. I found a photo that really blessed me–Billy Graham's desk was as messy as mine is! I found great comfort in that.

Ron Luce, because he so inspiring his storie when he was growing up really hit it home for me. Just reading his books have helped with my daily walk with God. The heart he has for teenages and young adults is amazing. I can say he has impacted my life and I would to be able to share my story and to tell him thanks.

  • Cindy White says:

Something that I don't usually think about. If I could meet someone I think that it would be Matthew West. His story of how God has worked in his life is very interesting and I would love to learn more about his walk with God.

Greg Graffin from Bad Religion. he represents the person i have a heart for. He's been ruined by ignorant Christians

  • Alan says:

I'm with @musicgirll77 on this one — I'm not much into celebrities.

But one I've always admired — and actually did meet and chat with briefly — is Steven Curtis Chapman (from your neck of the woods, Ron). His lyrics continue to inspire, connect, and challenge me since I got his first album some 23 years ago. What he's faced (good and bad) and the consistency of his walk (at least publicly) is a challenge to me. I bet I could learn a lot from him.

From history, I would have loved to have hung out with the Wright Brothers (I'm an aviation/aerospace nut).

    • ronedmondson says:

You are right about Steven Curtis Chapman. I've seen him several times in Nashville and he appears to be the real deal. Great way to use his influence.

  • @musicgirl77 says:

Obviously, yours is Rick Warren. I'll have to consider who I would want to meet. I usually avoid wanting to have anything to do with famous people as we live in a society rabid over celebrities.

    • ronedmondson says:

I agree about the celebrity part. I'm certainly not caught up in that, although my draw to someone like Rick Warren (and others) is influence….the heart of leadership…and something God certainly used throughout Scriptures…such as with Moses or David or Joseph…etc… I admire the way some have used their influence and would love to learn from them. Thanks for your comment.

If I were to add a modern-day hero, it would likely be W. For all of the criticism he takes, I'm still in awe of his job as president during a difficult time.

    • ronedmondson says:

It will be interesting to see how history writes about his leadership. I'd pretty much like to meet any former (or standing president). As an admirer of leadership, there is no way one can become president without having some knowledge of the issue.

  • Todd Thomas says:

I would say Martin Luther – the day after he posted the 95 theses. That would be UNREAL – probably wouldn't be able to say much other than "thank you" though…

  • Teri says:

Franklin Graham. But not "meeting" as in "How do you do?" and a hand shake. I would like to work a project with him for a short time. That is how one truly "meets" a person – working along side in a project you both believe in.

And why Franklin Graham? Because it was in reading his biography years ago that I realized that God wants each of us as He created us. The He wants to use those traits that people may think aren't "proper" in His very own way. In his bio, Franklin Graham makes sure you know what a knucklehead he was and can be – and that God knew what He was doing (imagine that! LOL) when He created him.

    • ronedmondson says:

I almost said Billy Graham for me…Franklin would do. I do love his story….God is a God of grace and He has big plans for each of us…even us knuckleheads…

  • @jerryfultz says:

It's downhill day at the Olympics. Franz Klammer's inspirational victory in '76 at Innsbruck was one for the ages. I've always wanted to meet him.

  • Mark says:

Neil Armstrong. I wanted to be an astronaut growing up.

    • ronedmondson says:

      Yeah, I could do that too…There is something inspiring about an astronaut. javascript:void(0);

      • Teri says:

John Glenn! 1st American in space Feb '62 and back in the saddle going up in the space shuttle in '98 at the age of 77! Talk about blowing the doors off of the definition of "old"!!!

        • ronedmondson says:

Another good one. John Glenn is an amazing man. I've actually come close to meeting him….been in the same room before…. (I'm one of those that wants to "blow the doors off of the definition of 'old'"!
