If you follow my blog regularly, then you know that I’m trying to spur people to dream bigger dreams. Not only do I believe dreaming is a healthy practice, I believe we need your dreams. Obviously we cannot live in dream world all the time, and I spend far more energy on this blog writing about accomplishing dreams than dreaming dreams, but I believe the world needs some more dreamers. I believe God encourages this process. Read my first post on this issue HERE.
Therefore, since it’s Saturday again, I hope you will play along and share in another dream stretch.
Today’s dream stretch is:
If you could have any career position, what would it be? If you could do anything and earn a living doing it, what would you do?
(Remember, there are no restrictions in our dreams. Dream big. Also, rather than answering on Facebook or Twitter, if that’s how you came to this post, please answer here as a comment, so everyone can be encouraged by your dreams.)
My dream job would be writing. Movies, books, poetry anything as long as it brings joy to the reader.
Great dream. I could share that one.
My dream job would be to work with Dave Ramsey. I love helping people and making a difference in their lives. My wife and I have followed his program for many years and have experienced the difference it makes.
Short of that, I want to be a philanthropist.
Brian, are you familiar with Joe Sangl? He has a similar ministry and recently launched on his own. Our church has partnered with him.

I love doing church production. I am a contract worker with North Point Ministries at our Browns Bridge campus and love every minute of it. I have come to realize that God has given me talents in this area and a love to see “unchurched” people coming back over and over again because they are initally attracted to the production and worship… Next thing ya know we are watching their baptism video….AMAZING! I am also a full time firefighter, but I feel God is pulling me in a new direction. Maybe my dream job…..Only God knows. Full time production director at a North Point Ministry campus or partner church, helping to lead others in a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
Rob, you are obviously in a "dream" setting as far as church world goes. We look to Northpoint, probably more than any other church, for inspiration. Keep dreaming. I think this is attainable. Your talent and experience there will obviously be useful to many other churches. Keep me posted.
Of course, your job as a firefighter is extremely valuable and admirable. Thanks for your service there.
Ron,
I actually have two dream jobs that I would like to do; possibly simultaniously down the road. The first is to be a leadership and spiritual development pastor for a local church. I have a desire to invest in church staff and ministry leaders. A lead pastor has much on his plate and can't alwasy specifically invest in the leaders and their ministries like they wish he or someone did. I also want to start my own consultation buisness/ministry. I have an idea for the process and name, but this will be a while in the works
That's a great postion on a church staff Mason, and I totally agree it is a need. Keep dreaming big and don't be afraid to "Go for it!" when the timing is right.
Ron, I truly appreciate your words. Thanks for insight on my site.
Thanks Jeremy. I checked out your church site. Good stuff. I’ll need to check you out next time I do a UT game.
I wish I knew! Right now my dream is to discover my dream.
Well, we have got to discover that dream. What could it be?
To pastor/lead my home church (WWW.parkwest.org) with passion, anointing and love toward Gods perfect will and vision for our community of faith. Follow in my father’s footsteps in a manner worthy of the responsibility and call. To make both my earthly and heavenly Father proud to entrust their work to me…thnx Ron.
Jeremy, I love that dream. Somehow I think God is smiling!
PS. Jeremy, I love you working with your dad. I would love for one of my boys to be my boss someday (or work for me for that matter).
owning my own yoga studio on South Beach.
That sounds like an attainable dream to me! (And a fun one!)
Honestly, I have my dream job. I'm a mom, and I'm fortunate to stay home with my children daily. Maybe that's cliche or sounds trite, but I don't say that lightly…it's a tough job, and it takes sacrifices, but it's the most rewarding thing I've experienced. It's also the most difficult and humbling position I've ever held. Sometimes the rewards aren't daily, rather over a period of time, but that's okay because it stretches me in areas of patience and faith. Not every day is easy, but every single day is worth it.
I think that's awesome! To have your dream job is an amazing thing! You are doing one of the most important jobs in the world!
My dream job is to be the chaplain for a professional sports team. In particular, the Vancouver Canucks! 🙂
Kevin, I don't think that's an impossible dream You may not be able to pick the team, but the career????
I am doing my dream now on a part-time basis. While I enjoy my full-time teaching job, I would love to be able to write (and maybe even speak) without having to teach. But, reality is reality, so I guess I have the best of both worlds. I know I wouldn't have the depth in my writing without the experiences I have had as a teacher, so I don't begrudge the time I spend in my job.
Good balance. Don't quit dreaming!
I had a vision one day (do visions count as dreams?) of heading a movie studio, producing great content. Attached to that would be getting kids off the street, loving them for who they are rather than what can be taken from them, teach them they are worth more than what they can sell themselves for to survive, and teach them something worthwhile to do.
Wow…that's a great vision…dream!!! Yes, I think they are the same in a sense. Vision, by definition I guess would be the legs of a dream…if that makes sense. I love it. When do you start?
Write books for kids. Something that teaches tough content in a fun way that doesn't feel textbookish.
Do it Julie! My wife loves to give children's books away and there is a need for more!
I dream of being a songwriter. I love to create music. And I would love to lead worship for a church. My husband and I have a couple dream of planting a church someday. We have already done this once and it was not successful for various reasons. But we still dream of it daily.
Keep dreaming Cheryl and don't be afraid to take another risk!
Park Ranger…love nature and conservation!
Park ranger? Interesting…I've actually been in some national parks and thought the same thing…
Dream job? Run a humantarian aid organization. I think what Franklin Graham, Wes Stafford and the like do is so incredible.
My reality of the dream… To be fired up and passionate about missions and bringing Christ to the lost. To help others in my everyday life. To give time, resources and prayer. To tell people about needs of others and how we can reach them in Jesus name. To work on the GCC mission team.
I like my reality!
Love the passion! I'm studying social entrepreneurship this weekend. You should read "They Mystery of Capital" by Hernando DeSoto and "How to Change the World" by David Bornstein.
I would be a senior pastor.
Charles, it looks like you have all the credentials. (I found your Facebook page). Sounds like a great goal. I'd love to hear your story, either here or by email. Do you sense a calling? You can email me at [email protected]
Thanks for the encouragement, Ron. I notice we're networked on LinkedIn as well.
You can catch part of my story on my blog…
Thanks Charles. I will check it out on your blog.
