I wonder how many times this is our picture when trying to attain victory…

  • In Business…
  • In Marriage…
  • In Parenting…
  • In Church…
  • In Life…

I wonder if, at times, victory isn’t  just over the hill. We can’t see it…the path is difficult…almost seeming to be unbearable…so we quit…just as we were about to reach the pinnacle of success…

Just wondering….

Have you been tempted to give up a little too soon?

Are you tempted to give up now?

We do have to keep pushing forward to achieve a dream! I have to remember to not focus on what the earthly situation looks like but, instead, keep my focus on the heavenly promise. I've been reading Jentezen Franklin's Believe That You Can. It has been helpful to me, and so has your post - so thank you!

I'm a dreamer and know how to push through but honestly the thought of giving up was the first one on my mind this morning. I told God. He didn't seem to care. I didn't really care if He cared.

Your graphic caught my eye. Your encouragement touched my soul. I've got to go and listen to God and not just "tell him". I've known for a long time He doesn't seem to respond well to whining.

Thanks Trevor! Praying for you
Sometimes it is really difficult to see the end goal. That makes it difficult to even want to continue. It can be very discouraging.

One thing I've found to be helpful is writing them down. I keep a notebook full of my life plan and goals. In it, I envision what the perfect victory looks like, in marriage, parenting, ministry, my photography, wherever... And then I take stock of where I am, and what sub-goals or steps are needed to push me to my ultimate goal.

So, even when the main goal is out of sight, I can still see the steps to getting there. It helps.

Absolute. I agree.
At least once a week I want to quit on my marriage, because for the last two years all I have seen is the hill. I keep going because I believe that's what God wants me to do. But I also know that I have no control over where this is going and I could do everything right and she could just leave. Ultimately God's will be done, but that could also mean that the victory in your graphic could be a steep drop into failure. Still I believe that I am doing the right thing.

Continuing to pray for you in this.
And I appreciate that more than you can know.
On the flip side, one of the things that keeps me going is the thought that there is victory just over the rise and it will taste so sweet. If you'd shown me that graphic a few years ago, I'd most like responded "yeah, right". And I think that was because I only saw the failures and struggles in my life. God has a way if interjecting Himself into our lives that many times turns that uphill struggle into at least one where sometimes we get a peek over the top and can see the victory waiting there for us. I think one of the things we need to do is to always seek His direction, because not every hill is one we ought to be on.
