Lather, Rinse and Repeat: Necessary in Leadership

By October 1, 2012September 20th, 2021Leadership

Lather, rinse and repeat.

Lather, rinse and repeat.

Lather, rinse and repeat.

You’ve no doubt been bored enough in the shower to read the bottle of shampoo, right? Maybe not, but you’ve heard the phrase. If you aren’t sure, grab a bottle of your favorite shampoo and read the direction. I’m still not sure why we need directions for something so simple, but if taken literally, there would be an endless loop of repeating the same steps until the bottle is empty.

I’ll be honest. True confession. I’ve never been a repeater. Once is enough for me. It sounds expensive. Lather. Rinse. Repeat. I’m a simple lather, rinse guy.

It’s funny on shampoo bottles, but it makes a lot of sense in leadership.

In fact, in leadership, you must.

Lather, rinse, and repeat. An endless loop.

Repeat Vision

Repeat Values

Repeat Victories

Repeat. Repeat. Repeat.

Do it. Then do it again. And again. And again. And again.

People forget. People lose sight. People get distracted. People need reminding.

Truthfully, as a leader, if you aren’t becoming bored repeating the things that need repeating, you’re probably not repeating it enough.

Lather, rinse and repeat.

Do I need to say it again?

It's easy for one who has outside jobs, outside interests, and so forforth, to forget. I have heard it said that things like like that weere necessary and God did refer to us as sheep! I am of the mind that it is more because of these things other things in life that keep people from being able to remember so well. So, yeah, repeat, then again!
