Here’s a quick message to my two boys. Jeremy and Nate are 21 and 18 years old. (This picture is a few years old, but it’s one of my favorites.) Jeremy just graduated from college last week. Nate finishes his first year of college next week. They are tremendous young men, but I realize they have some incredible opportunities ahead and I don’t want them to miss anything God has for them, especially not because they were unprepared. I wish someone had given me this advice when I was their age. (Perhaps you need to hear it as well.)
Boys:
I’ve messed up many times in life…
Please learn from my mistakes…
I’m not perfect now, but at least I’m headed in the right direction…
I wish I had started this path earlier in life…
Don’t wait to build your character, discover your life purpose, and chase your dreams…
Head your life early in the direction you want your life to eventually end…
Start today…
Do you need that encouragement today?
I’m curious: At what age did you start heading your life in the direction you ultimately want to go?
Thanks for sharing these, Ron. My wife and I have only boys, ages 15, 11, and 4. The fact that we’re in (and already past) a crucial point to influence their lives seems to hit heavier everyday.
I appreciate you sharing your thoughts, advice, burdens with the rest of us. It’s obvious your boys are a real delight.
Happy Easter!
I love my boys.
Thanks…! Chasing the dreams and desires of your heart that God has for you.. The last few weeks I have realize that their more His then mine,…..
Thanks Ashley, Praying you continue on the path God has for you.
Saved at 44, 2 boys were 13 and 11. Still took awhile to get my head on straight. Working out the damage in my boys I caused but I have an awesome and forgiving God who hears my prayers for my sons and keeping me in line draws them to Him where there is salvation and peace….who can ask for anything more!
I am so thankful for grace! Thanks for sharing part of your story!
Oh gosh, Ron…I started to follow Christ when I was 15 and it kicked into high-gear when i was 18. My kids, now almost 16 and almost 18, still manage to copy my faults, rather than my strengths. Why is that? 🙂
I think we are wired that way, don’t you? “no temptation has seized you except what’s common to man”. Thankful though for God’s grace!
