Did I begin today in prayer?
Have I read my Bible today?
Did I give today my best efforts?
Did I make someone’s life a little better today?
Did I take steps towards the dreams I have and God has for my life today?
How did I add value to the world around me today?
Was my attitude ever in the way of me or others having a productive, happy day?
Can I put today behind me, go to sleep, and give tomorrow another chance?
How can I improve my answers tomorrow night?
Am I ending today in prayer?
Thats a great list the longer you seek the easier it is to find …
Yes
Yesterday was pretty awesome. I had some great answers for the above. It will be hard to beat that tonight but I'll try. I took a picture of these questions and scheduled a text for myself. 🙂
Love it. Thank you!
"Was my attitude ever in the way of me or others having a productive, happy day?"
Wow big thought. because my prayer life, my relationship to God has a great influence on my relationship with my folks
Purpose, forgiveness, prayer. Simple, but so fundamental. Thank you for this Ron.
Thanks!
I like that. I can be too hard on myself and what I didn't accomplish makes me anxious. But I accomplished all of that today, so I'd say it's a good day!
Awesome
Don't be deceived. Even when we accomplish all this, we have failed miserably. This type of list saddens me because when we do accomplish it we become self-righteous by actually depending on our own works over Christ for fulfillment. Why would not accomplishing this make you anxious? That's what our King died for so that you could be free from that condemnation. If anything, we must always remember that we will always fail him immensely and that's why his death is so precious and so needed. Therefore, instead of feeling condemnation for failing him, we can rejoice because of him! This list is good for remembering how much we fall short, but not ever to be content in.
@chief… Could the Holy Spirit not empower accomplishing the above? Are we not to walk in the light as Jesus is in the light? Why the prohibition on acknowledging putting on the new self? The above list isn't a prescriptive guide to salvation, but a descriptive picture of sanctification. I'm betting you'd agree to my statements… Yes?
Sorry, I disagree. I'm a grace person all the way.Listen to any of my sermons. There are no works we can do to be right with God. Don't only read Eph 2:8-9. Read verse 10 also.Discipleship is a process. Jesus accomplished it often by asking questions.Read Col 3:16. We are supposed to teach as admonish one another. You're ignoring most all the epistles with your comment. All grace. But diligent in growing our faith. Never forgetting that its all grace.
I totally agree that we can rejoice because of Him! My anxiety is from…anxiety itself, not from not accomplishing this list, but from having anxiety which makes me hard on myself. My loving and tender relationship with God, talking with Him and listening to Him is what carries me through that. And don't worry, no matter how many lists I tick off, I will not become self-righteous (that's not in me), everything I do is because he gifts me to do so.
