The movie “The Last Song” has a powerful story to tell. Cheryl and I watched it at the theater when it first came out earlier this year, but I watched it again on the plane heading to Africa recently. I encourage you to watch it.

The applications for me are:

  • People make mistakes, even the people we love the most
  • Tragedy brings families together…or further apart…
  • Love is hard, but it’s beautiful
  • Life is short
  • Relationships are worth repairing
  • Forgiveness is a powerful force

Don’t watch it unless you are prepared to shed a tear.

Do any of these applications sound like issues you need to address?

Have you seen this movie? What did you think?

Never did I think that you would ever comment about 1. a Nicholas Sparks novel-based movie and 2. a Miley Cyrus movie, at that. But that aside, I totally like what you said about the movie.

There are so many spiritual themes in the book (which is 1000% better than the movie, in my opinion). Love, grace, and forgiveness being huge themes. There is a lot to be said about how love can transform us, not only did Ronnie change because of Will's love and the love and grace shown between the father and his daughter. But Christ's love transforms us in the same way. Once we realize that true, intimate love, we really can't "go back" to being how we were before.

    Great post, Ron 🙂

      Four excuses:

      1. First time I was with Cheryl
      2. Second time I was locked in an airplane for 8 hours
      3. I'm much softer in my old age
      4. Having just lost my father….

      Thanks!
