You can only see what you can see

By June 20, 2011Church

People can hide a lot of pain…

Many times what we can see is not all there is to see..

***You see the happy couple that seems to have it all together…

But you don’t see the pain they carry from a divorce of the past…

***You see the sweet family with three beautiful children…

But you don’t see the heart that breaks because of past miscarriages…

***You see the successful business owner…

But you don’t see the failures that came before things began to turn for good…

***You see grandparents enjoying their grandchildren…

But you don’t see the years a prodigal child wandered from her parents…

***You see the smiling couple at church…

But you don’t see the dysfunction and pain which exists in their home during the week…

***You see the pastor with the big church…

But you don’t see the weight of burden he carries…

We can only see what we can see…

Next time you see someone seeming to prosper and succeed, and you are tempted to be envious of where they are in life, remember what you see may not be all there is to see…

I try to always be conscious of the story behind the story…or the one that’s not displayed by a first impression…

Do you have hidden pain others can’t easily see?

Have others been guilty of assuming everything is okay with you when everything is not?
